The flagship · in build

You traded what you traded. Now find out why it was a good or bad decision.

Most trading reviews are vibes. You write a journal entry, you re-watch a chart, you tell yourself a story, and you move on. The market state at the moment you took the trade — the auction shape, the regime, the structural levels in play, the IV state, the Narrator's read — is gone the next day. You cannot honestly evaluate whether you took an A+ setup or a coin-flip without it. The Coach reconstructs it.

The problem

Trading P&L is noisy. Win rate, average R, Sharpe — all of these tell you what happened, but none of them tell you whether you should have taken the trade in the first place. Two traders with identical P&L can have wildly different process quality, and process quality is what compounds.

Existing review tools fall into two camps:

  • Trade journals — text fields and tags. You write what you remember. You forget context within 24 hours. The journal becomes a narrative, not an evaluation.
  • P&L analytics — distributions, equity curves, MAE/MFE. Rigorous numerically, blind to why the trade existed.

Neither answers the question that actually matters: "Given what the auction was doing at 10:42 IST when I went long, was that a structurally justified entry?"

The market does not care about your win rate. It cares whether you read it correctly. The Coach grades you on the read.

What it does

Step 1. Ingest your trades — CSV upload first, broker integrations later.

Step 2. Reconstruct market state at every entry and exit using the same
engines that power the Narrator: regime, profile shape, value
migration, structural levels, IV state, distance from recent value.

Step 3. Cross-reference the Narrator's contemporaneous brief — what the
read was that morning, that lunch, that EOD — and align it with
         the decision you actually made.

Step 4. Rate the trade on multiple structural axes. Each axis gets a
letter grade and a one-sentence justification grounded in the
         reconstructed state.

Step 5. Produce a coaching summary, a per-trade journal entry, and an
aggregate weak-spot analysis as your trade history grows.

The Coach is not running on cached opinion. Every rating is grounded in the same regime / profile / structural-levels state that is on the live dashboard, replayed for the timestamp of your trade.

The rating axes

The Coach grades each trade on six axes. Each gets a letter (A / B / C / D / F) plus a one-sentence justification.

01

Structural Justification

Was there a structural reason to take this trade where you took it? An untested naked POC, an active single print, a balance-area edge, a value-area extreme — or were you trading mid-distribution noise?

02

Timeframe Fit

Did your hold time match the auction's clock? You entered on a one-minute trigger, but the value migration the trade depended on plays out over an afternoon. The Coach flags entries where the timeframe of the setup and the timeframe of the management did not match.

03

Auction Alignment

Were you with the auction or against it? Initiative buying into seller initiative is a fight. Responsive selling at value-area high in balance is alignment. The Coach reads the regime and OTF state at the moment of entry and grades alignment explicitly.

04

Risk Sizing vs Regime

Did you size for the volatility regime you were in, or the one you wished you were in? Entering at full size into a high-vol IB extension because "the move feels obvious" is a regime mismatch. The Coach pulls the realised-vol percentile at entry and compares your size against your average size in similar conditions.

05

Setup Quality

Some structural setups have demonstrably better empirical follow-through than others. The Coach references the rotation library to grade setup quality — was this an A+ context-rich setup, or a coin-flip with one weak factor?

06

Discipline

Did you take the trade as planned, or did you adjust on the fly? Late entries past the level, premature exits before the structural target, doubling down outside the playbook — all show up here. This axis is the only one where the Coach also reads your stated plan, if you provided one.

Trade

Long NIFTY-I @ 24,180.5 at 10:42 IST. Exited @ 24,205 at 11:18 IST.

+24.5 pts on 25 lots

Reconstructed state at entry

B-shape value migration up from prior session. IB high at 24,156.4 was tested and held as support twice in the prior 18 minutes. ETH naked POC at 24,090 sitting below as untested support. Regime: medium realised vol, IV/HV spread tight. Narrator's lunch brief flagged buyer initiative with the IB-high acceptance as the structural trigger.

Coach ratings

AStructural JustificationIB-high acceptance with naked POC as backstop is a textbook initiative-buy setup.
AAuction AlignmentLong with the migration, with the regime, with the Narrator's read.
ASetup QualityMulti-factor confluence: IB-high hold, naked POC support, value migration up, Narrator alignment.
BTimeframe FitExit at IB extension before value-area extension confirmed. Setup carried more, the hold did not.
B+Risk Sizing vs RegimeSlightly under-sized for the conviction available given multi-factor confluence. Defensible.
ADisciplineEntry at the level, no chasing.

Verdict

Strong read · Partial expression

The same structural setup, held to value-area extension, would have produced ~3x the captured points without changing the entry or risk. Consider pre-defining a "structural target" rather than a points target on A-grade setups.

The Coach is not flattering. It will tell you that you took an F-grade setup that worked and a B-grade decision that did not. The rating is on the decision, not the outcome.

What the Coach is NOT

  • Not a signal generator. It will not tell you what to trade tomorrow.
  • Not a live trade-alert system. The Coach runs on completed trades, retrospectively.
  • Not a profitability button. A great read can lose money. A bad read can make money. The Coach helps you see the difference.
  • Not investment advice. Auction Edge is not a SEBI Registered Investment Advisor. Coach output is post-trade education, not prescription. See Disclaimer.

How trades get into the Coach

Phased:

  1. CSV upload (launch) — drop in a CSV of your trades from any broker. We accept the standard tradebook format from major Indian brokers and a generic schema for everything else.
  2. Broker integrations (next) — direct read-only ingest. which first — Zerodha Kite Connect, Dhan, Sensibull, IBKR for institutional?
  3. API ingest (institutional) — for prop desks pushing trades programmatically.

You can also add manual notes per trade — what your plan was, what you thought was happening — and the Coach will use those in the Discipline axis.

Privacy

Your trades are yours. The Coach handles them with care.

  • Encrypted at rest. Trade data is stored encrypted in the database.
  • Never shared. No data ever leaves your account in identifiable form.
  • Never used to train models. Not ours, not Anthropic's, not anyone's. Anthropic's API by default does not train on submitted content; we have not opted into any logging programme that would change this. See Privacy Policy.
  • Deletable. Delete individual trades, batches, or your full Coach history at any time.

Why this is the most useful thing we are building

Briefs, levels, regime — these all help you make the next decision better. The Coach is what closes the loop on the decisions you have already made. Most traders never close that loop honestly because the data needed to do so disappears within 24 hours.

We are keeping the data. The Coach reads it back.
